Ex-military turned CIA agent JJ (Dave Bautista) gets busted by nine-year-old Sophie (Chloe Coleman) and is now at her mercy. He does whatever she asks in return for keeping information that he’s surveilling her and her mother a secret.
The plot is nothing new. The father figure to young girl story has been done many times, but it’s still funny and entertaining. There’s some language, though not as much as Common Sense Media would have you believe. (Guardians of the Galaxy was worse in comparison.) I wish they’d chosen someone other than Cardi B for the soundtrack that’s where some of the language comes from.
My Spy is fun family a ton flick worth checking out. It’s available to stream on Amazon Prime.
Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage), an apprentice of Merlin, recruits Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a college physics genius, to help him stop evil sorceress Morgana le Fay from returning to destroy the world. Dave has to accept his destiny as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice, succeed in his training, and in the process make a good impression on the girl of his dreams.
This is one of my favorite standalone fantasy movies. It’s a King Arthuresque tale full of magic, great special effects, and it even has a sweet little love story in the middle of it all. I recommend it. It’s available to stream on Disney Plus.
