2¢ OT Star Wars May the Fourth Be With You Event

Solo: A Star Wars Story is the Han Solo origin story no one asked for, but we got anyway! And it’s one of the best movies ever! (At least in my opinion. It got mixed reviews if I remember correctly.)

This movie probably ruined the lives of Star Wars fanfiction writers lives everywhere by filling in the blanks about this Space Outlaw’s past exploring events like how Han (Alden Ehrenreich) became an outlaw in the first place, how he met Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) and Lando (Donald Glover).
After escaping Corellia with the intention of coming back for his girlfriend Qi’ra (Emillia Clarke), three years go by and Han teams up with a group of criminals which eventually leads him back to Qi’ra. Han, Beckett (Woody Harrelson), and Qi’ra team up for on a mission for the villainous Dryden Voss (Paul Bettany), and we get the get the story of the Kessel Run mentioned all the way back in the Original Trilogy.

Alden Ehrenreich was perfect casting for Han Solo. He brought the same arrogance, and cocky attitude to the character we already know and love. Donald Glover is also perfectly cast as Lando, and it was fun seeing Paul Bettany play a villain.

Star Wars has always had some of the best scores! The music is a beautiful combination of new composition from John Powell mixed beautifully with John Williams’ classic score. So good!

This movie has great action! Lots of laser fights and explosions! (My favorite!) Where’s my laser gun? I need one!!!) I also need a sequel. This movie deserves a sequel! There’s obviously more story to tell considering how they ended it, and I need more!

This is one of the movies I wish I could go back in time and watch for the first time. That twist at the end was something I never saw coming!

There’s a couple instances of language, but other than that, there’s no content issues other than your typical sci-fi action violence.

This is one of my favorite Star Wars movies. I hope Disney goes through with that sequel Disney Plus series from a while back. You can stream Solo now on Disney Plus.

Once upon a time there was a young girl who hated and feared all things sci-fi. Her anxiety wouldn’t allow her to enjoy such things. Rare exceptions to that rule occurred. Exceptions like ET and Star Wars, oddly enoughl

Dad bought these movies to watch with us kids, and I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. A New Hope is one of my all-time favorite movies!

In 1977, George Lucas’s brainchild was unleashed on the world for the first time and changed the face of pop culture forever!

In a galaxy far, far away Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is thrown into a battle against the Imperial Forces. He, along with his two droids, C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) and R2-D2 (team up with Obi-Wan Kenobi (Sir Alec Guinness), a Jedi Knight, space scoundrel and pilot, Han Solo (Harrison Ford), and his Wookie, Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) to rescue Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) from Darth Vader ( David Prowse, James Earl Jones). They need to work together to save the galaxy from the Empire and destroy Vader’s planet-destroying Death Star.

Even though the technology was ahead of its time back then, the action/fighting sequences at the end look like an old videogame. It’s still fun to watch though.
John Williams’s score for this movie is beyond epic. It’s considered the greatest film score of all time by the American Film Institute and rightfully so.

This movie has everything you could want! Action, adventure, and even the beginning of a romance are all accounted for. All of the perfect ingredients for a space opera that has a little something for everyone to enjoy.

P.S. Lightsabers are cool. I need one. It’’ll go great with my laser gun! 😂

The world of Star Wars expands in The Empire Strikes Back, a sequel that’s just as good as the first. New planets are explored, and new characters are introduced. It’s very much a Darth Vader ( David Prowse, James Earl Jones) centered movie. His presence overshadows everything even the scenes that he’s not in!

This movie feels big enough that it could’ve been split into two because there’s so much going on. It’s almost hard to believe that they managed to pack it all into one movie.

After the new Rebel base is attacked by the Galatic Empire, Luke (Mark Hamill), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), along with their two droids and a Wookie are forced to evacuate the ice planet Hoth. The crew go in opposite directions: Luke and R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) fly off to Dagobah for Jedi training with Yoda (Frank Oz), and the others are on the run from Darth Vader.
Thinking that his old friend Lando (Billy Dee Williams) can provide refuge from Vader and help repair the Falcon, Han heads to Cloud City. Once there, Lando betrays Han and turns everyone over to Vader to save his city from being destroyed.
Believing his friends to be in danger, Luke leaves his training behind to rescue them only to fall into the trap Vader has set for him in his attempt to do anything to turn Luke over to the Dark Side of the Force.

The Force is strong with this sequel, an enjoyable and darker follow-up to the original. I love all the scenes between Han and Leia. The climax of the movie starting with Luke’s fight with Vader all the way to the end is perfect! I don’t think I can remember a villain having as epic a theme song as the Imperial March. One of the best pieces of music ever! So many epic moments and quotes! My personal favorite:

Leia: I love you
Han: I know 😂

I enjoy the Original Trilogy so much! Stream it now on Disney Plus

The Return of the Jedi takes place one year after the events of The Empire Strikes Back. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) returns to Tattoine with Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) to rescue Han Solo (Harrison Ford) from Jabba the Hutt.
The rescue mission doesn’t go as planned, and they end up being captured. They manage to escape and fly off to Endor where another Death Star has been constructed.
Obi Wan Kenobi (Sir Alec Guinness) tells Luke that he must face Darth Vader (David Prowse, James Earl Jones). This time to kill him. Luke struggles with the idea of killing his own, and is determined that there is something good left in Vader. He hopes that with some persuasion that Vader will return to the Light Side of the Force. Unfortunately, one last family reunion is necessary. The fate of the Galaxy depends on it! The final action-packed chapter of the Original Trilogy isn’t one to be missed!

Return of the Jedi is weird. Really weird. And I love it! They pulled out all the stops and went nuts when it came time create all these different aliens, and I absolutely love it! It’s the least family friendly out of the trilogy due to Jabba the Hutt enjoying galactic stripper entertainment and for putting Leia in that gold bikini.

The action is great and includes lots of fiery explosions which makes my pyromaniac self happy. I love that Vader had some kind of redemption at the end. Not all villains need or deserve to be redeemed, but it was a great way to end his story.

The part where Leia says she always knew Luke was her brother doesn’t make sense since she kissed him in Empire Strikes back. Incest in Space anyone? 😂 The face Han makes when Leia tells him that Luke is her brother is priceless! 😂

Everytime I rewatch Star Wars, I want to rewatch it after I’m done! That’s not ever really happened with any other franchise. Not even Marvel which is my main fandom. These movies are well worth your time if you’ve never seen them, and they’re also easily rewatchable. The original Star Wars are easily some of the best movies of all time! The entire trilogy is available to stream on Disney Plus.
